Statue Garden

This is a dive to around 24m.

Four large metal statues created by an artist Dan Rapaport were immersed here in order to create an artificial reef

·  Location: Access by dive boat only, via the Dive Club.

·  Parking for private vehicles: Manta Dive Club parking lot or at the Marina from whence the boat departs.

·  Disabled access: Yes.

·  Entry point: The dive boat anchors directly above the dive site.

About the dive: This is a dive to around 24m.
Four large metal statues created by an artist Dan Rapaport were immersed here in order to create an artificial reef and to attract divers away from areas on the verge of irreparable damage.
Visibility is fair and the dive can be made at any time of day.

·  Dive Plan: Direct descent down the anchor line to the statues which lie not far from one another.
Just one statue has remained standing.
The other three fell during severe storms in the bay and lie on their sides.
Seeing the statues is an experience in itself, especially when they are surrounded by the local large schools of fish.
To the west, popular dive site Amphibian Vehicles is found and can be explored on the same tank or separately.

·  Marine inhabitants: A glance down reveals rays and other sandy seafloor dwellers below.
To the south the floor is adorned by a coral carpet and striking natural coral statues.
There is no shortage of stratified purple-blue corals, as well as fixed and mobile coral varieties (Fungia).

·  Safety Warning: This dive cannot be made without previous notice and permission.
The site is located in an area heavily used by other water craft and therefore the surface must be avoided except for on ascent and descent from the dive boat.
Descent and return to the dive boat are made in 'blue water' conditions (far from the seafloor and the surface).
